CHED Technical Panel visits NWU-COME

Two programs of the College of Maritime Education particularly the BS in Marine Transportation and BS in Marine Engineering were visited by the Technical Panel for Maritime Education (TPME) last November 19.

The group came to the University to inspect the institution's compliance with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Standards for Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) '95 requirements.

NWU hosts "Operation: Behind Enemy Lines 2"

Ilocos Norte Airsoft Team (INAT), an Ilocos Norte's premier airsoft group, mounted the Tournament "Behind Enemy Lines 2" championship round, Close Quarter Battle last November 15, 2009 at the Northwestern University Oval. The main objective of such an event is to promote sportsmanship, camaraderie, and social networking.

The championship event was actively participated by 11 teams from the region like Dur-as Bantay, 49th AB, HORNES, CAT, SCAT, BAGNET, PROCAT, ISTAT, and AXIS to name a few. All winners were awarded with cash prizes and trophies. The Dur-As Bantay team, from Bantay, Ilocos Sur bagged the top prize of P5, 000.00, followed by the 49th AB winning  P3, 000.00, HORNES winning P2, 000.00 and the CAT team receiving P1, 000.00.

NWU-School of Midwifery scores 100% passing rate on Midwifery Licensure Exam
Northwestern University takes pride as the School of Midwifery posted a 100% passing rate in the recently held board exam for Midwifery last November 14 & 15, 2009. The successful examinees are: Agustin, Rhea C. Allado, Fe A. Baltazar, Marissa A. Baysa, Meilyn R. Bonilla, Hanela Princess Kaye L. Duldulao, Hazeline A. Fontanilla, Aileen L. Mechanical Engineering Board Passers 2009

Northwestern University triumphed over the result of the recently held Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examinations given by the Board of Mechanical Engineering this October.

The successful examinees were: Rodel C. Abrigo, Justine Rudolf S. Bautista, Gabriel Mark Anthony C. Damo Jr., Leohmar M. Padaoan and Dexter F. Ramos

The university got 83.33% institutional passing rate which is above the National Passing Rate of 60.46%.

 
CRIMINOLOGY BOARD PASSERS September 2009
Northwestern University (NWU) posted 40% Passing Rate in the Criminologist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Criminology last September 2009. The National Passing Rate is 35.68%.

NWU-PESO and DOLE-Ilocos Norte holds free mentorship program through Kabataan ITo

Northwestern University- Public Employment Service Office in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment-Ilocos Norte Provincial Labor Office conducted the launching program of the Kabataan Information Technology Opportunities (ITO) on October 21, 2009 at the Apolinario Aquino Multi-Purpose Center.

The program were attended by the DOLE Officials from the Province and Region, youth mentors from Northwestern University, Mariano Marcos State University, Divine Word College of Laoag, Bangui Institute Technology, and learners for the IT appreciation and familiarization sessions.

Kabataan ITO is an earning and learning project wherein Information Technology-literate unemployed youth were tapped and mobilized to improve IT literacy among the out-of school youth and other disadvantaged youth through free mentoring sessions. It also intends to bring the government closer to the people through free, supervised internet access to online government programs and services.
