NWU mobilizes Donation Drive for typhoon victims
The Northwestern University Supreme Student Council spearheaded a donation drive for the victims of Typhoons Ulysses and Rolly in Cagayan Valley (Region 2), which included a live streaming benefit show on November 20, 2020, in cooperation with the Office of Student Affairs, 107.5 U radio and The Review.
Cagayan Valley was one of the areas severely damaged due to massive flooding. Tons of status quo updates were posted on social media, calling for help and sending SOS messages in the midst of the calamity.

“Timpuyog: Panangalangon Kenni Cagayano” was the theme of the donation drive, as well as the online show.
The drive requested donors to give relief goods such as canned goods, bottled drinks, clothing, personal hygiene supplies and blankets. Cash donations were also accepted.
The Online Benefit Show was in the form of a concert that exemplified the CHAMPS core values of Northwestern University. NWU After 5 band, NWU After 6 band, and guest band, The Temporaries, gave outstanding and engaging performances.
“The donation drive initiated by the Supreme Student Council is a strong manifestation that we serve, we share and we care. We serve our fellow citizens through sharing what we have and this signifies that we truly care,” uttered Supreme Student Council President Meynard Garcia Castro.
“In unity, small acts are made bigger and its impact made greater!” said NWU Acting Dean of Office of the Student Affairs, Agustina Dancel-Matias.
The donation drive was fulfilled by the support and help of different organizations, NWU students and officers, the NWU multipurpose cooperative, and other generous individuals.
