NWU conducts virtual Research Colloquium and launches Raniag Journal
The Northwestern University Center for Research and Development (UCRD) conducted a Virtual Research Colloquium and launched the Raniag Journal of Social Sciences on January 29, 2021.
Dr. Eric C. Parilla, Officer-in-Charge and Vice President for Research, Community Extension, and Integrated Agricultural Development, introduced the internationally acclaimed guest speaker—Prof. Safary Wa-Mbaleka, Ed.D., Ph.D. He is an Associate Professor of Education at the Adventist University of Africa.
Prof. Wa-Mbaleka deliberated on the topic, “Enhancing Research Productivity.” According to him, it is not the best writers who are published; rather, it is those who keep at it and don’t quit . When the persistent writers publish over and over again, they end up being known as the best writers. It is not because they have supernatural powers or supernatural intelligence but because they are persistent in what they do. They are dedicated,” Prof. Wa-Mbaleka explained.
Different research papers were presented during the event. Dr. Maricon M. Guillermo and Prof. Catalina C. Exmundo discussed their paper entitled, “Preferences for Capability Building and Enhancement Trainings among Cooperative Members in Ilocos Norte,” while Dr. Jonah B. Badua spoke on her paper entitled, “Implementation of R.A. 10586 (Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013).” Dr. Eric S. Parilla and Prof. Marc Edward Abadilla, MBA, introduced their research entitled, “Supply Chain Management Adoption and its Effect to Profitability of Philippine MSMEs.”

The journal comprises research-based articles on the different aspects of social sciences, which include Business Studies, Arts, Education, Cultural Studies, Development Studies, Economics, Sexuality Studies, Law, Information Science, Media Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Sustainable Studies. We are faced with new challenges we need to overcome. All the more, with the challenges that we face, more research needs to be done, more data collected and analyzed, more solutions proposed in order to overcome them,” NWU president Atty.
