NWU Basic Education holds closing rites online
As ECQ was the status in both the city and the province, Northwestern University Basic Education Department mounted an online virtual moving up ceremony and recognition from Preschool, Grade School, Junior High School and Senior High School on June 30, July 1, and July 31, 2021 respectively.
The Grade School Graduation was aired on June 30, participated in by 21 Grade 6 completers. Nikkhein Ritz Karl G. Bolo, a Grade 6 completer, delivered his welcome address, followed by the bestowing of graduates by the Head of NWU Grade School, Prof. Ma Teresa Lourdes L. Carbonell.
“I would like to congratulate our Grade 6 completers in their accomplishment of learning more about the world around us, preparing you as you enter your adolescent years on your way to [becoming] young, vibrant adults,” said President Ferdinand Nicolas to the completers.
Myrna Barbara B. Collado, Grade 1 adviser, introduced the Commencement Speaker Mr. Leiovie Lloyd Ancheta who reminded the graduates of their individual potential and appreciating being in school. “This is just the beginning of your exciting future, if you’re graduating as honor students, congratulations as you’re achieving already at an early age, keep that fire burning and for all of you, cherish the moment that you are still in school, cherish the moment that you experience high school and then eventually college, because once you step into the reality, for sure you’re going to miss school,” Ancheta said.
The Preschool Recognition and Moving Up were aired on July 1, participated in by 14 Kindergarten completers. “Education makes us write and count and makes us capable of learning. And wish them success on their next journey,” said Dr. Chita Gonzales, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Moreover, the Junior High School Moving Up and Senior High School Graduation Ceremonies both aired on July 31 and was hosted by Sir Jerick T. Guiang and Ma’am Mayrose F. Bruno. The welcome addresses were given by the Junior High School Head, Ms. Mildred M. Chan, and Senior High School Head, Ms. Rosemarie T. Teodoro.
Ms. Marica Zyrille C. Bartolome, a Grade 10 completer with high honors in Junior High School, expressed her utmost gratitude to the people who were instrumental in the junior high completers’ successes. “This is not only for us, the completers or should I say warriors, also for those people who helped us get through, they deserve our sincerest gratitude, because they are the primary reasons for our victories,” she said.
Also, Ms. Kyle Cristel B. Baloaloa with high honors in Senior High School, in utmost appreciation, said, “All of us have a rollercoaster ride from months-long quarantine to distance learning to countless assignments and numerous other things, relentlessly gone through all of it. My journey at Northwestern University was a tough experience but one that taught me so much.”
The Junior High School completers and Senior High School graduates reminisced memories in their journey as they sang their graduation songs “Kanlungan” and “One Day” respectively. President Ferdinand Nicolas also delivered his congratulatory message to the JHS completers and SHS graduates of Batch 2020-2021.
