NWU and UPLB signs MOU, together with other educational institutions
Northwestern University (NWU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) for future collaborations between the two institutions. The ceremonial signing was conducted on August 27, 2021 during which UPLB also signed MOUs with St. Scholastica’s College, St. Tonis College Inc., Wesleyan University and Mater Dei College.
The MOU aims to develop collaborative activities in academic areas of interests, curriculum and faculty development, collaborative research projects, as well as to promote other areas of cooperation.
“This MOU is a blessing in disguise, linking different universities virtually. We found other ways to traverse learning, in order to learn from one another. This historic event is to help (us) be a better version of our institutions. Our partners nurture fields in their courses,” said UPLB Chancellor, Dr. Jose V. Camacho Jr.
The MOU will be effective for five years. During the ceremonial signing, representatives from NWU were Pres. Ferdinand S. Nicolas, EVP Prof. Liza S. Nicolas, VPAA Dr. Chita A. Gonzales, and VP for Research and Community Extension, Dr. Eric S. Parilla. On the side of UPLB were UPLB Chancellor, Dr. Jose V. Camacho Jr., Dr. Greg T. Pawilen and Asst. Prof Prince Kennex R. Aldama of the Office for Institutional Development of Higher Education, and Asst. Prof Mar B. Cruz, Department Chair of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship.
“I am sure that we will find this partnership fruitful as we continue to discover the new normal. There is so much data, there are so many different phenomena that we need to take into account now that we are living in the new normal, with… important discoveries (to be made) for the betterment of the socio-economic standing of our countrymen,” NWU President Ferdinand Nicolas said.
