Saguday Chorale wins in World Choir Games 2023
Saguday, throughout Northwestern University’s history, has been the quintessential ambassadors of NWU. It is composed of different units such as the dancers, band, marching band, and the chorale group. The Saguday Performing Arts Group is the pool of talents under scholarship grants from the university.
The Saguday Chorale groups have been winners and qualifiers in various competitions all throughout the region and the country.
The Saguday Chorale, in its iteration today, is being conducted by Sherberk Cabrales. He started training the chorale group in 2008 but it was in 2018 that he was formally engaged on a part-time basis as its trainor/conductor/mentor.
On July 6, during the 12th World Choir Games
Gangneung-si, Republic of Korea, the Saguday Chorale won the following awards:
– Golden Diploma Level I and Winner of the Musica Sacra Competition
– Golden Diploma Level IV in the Folklore a capella category
The World Choir Games happens every two years, and is considered to be the olympics of choral competitions.
