NWU celebrates 92nd Foundation Anniversary
Northwestern University marked its 92nd Foundation Anniversary on January 25, 2024. In honoring this milestone, the NWU community acknowledged its founders who laid the groundwork for this cherished university. To continue their legacy of a pioneering spirit, the theme of the celebration was “Visions of Victory: Pioneering the Future.
The celebration began at 4 AM with a Diana around town that involved employees and students joining the parade. The Opening Ceremony and Worship Service followed later in the morning at the Student Center. NWU President Atty. Ferdinand Nicolas delivered his remarks, rousing the NWU community: “I dare you, my fellow Northwesternians, to pioneer and make your dreams a reality.”
What followed was the traditional Wreath-laying Ceremony, showing respect and honor for the founders of the university.
At the Freedom Park, various booths showcased the creativity of the different colleges with their interpretations of pioneering the future. Continuing the happy environment, students were treated to a free ice cream lane readied by Culinary students, vibe with the After 5 and After 6 bands, and lastly, the Unveiling Ceremony of the countdown to 100 years. A fitting end to the day’s activities was the fireworks display.
NWU still has eight years before it reaches its centennial achievement. Even so, it continues to aim high with its commitment to excellence and global relevance, and looks forward to the windows of opportunity that are ready to be seized
