NWU mounts Community Extension Activities
The NWU community gives back through its community extension activities. One of these activities is the medical and dental missions they organize.
The most recent one was in March 2018, where the university medical and the College of Allied Health Sciences teams went to Barangay Gabu Sur in Laoag City. 107 beneficiaries availed of the free services. The NWU team also distributed medicines and Medical Laboratory Science students and faculty got blood samples of the participants for blood typing and RBS. Physical Therapy students did musculo-skeletal screening while Nursing students did blood pressure readings. NWU’s physician Dr. Emma Bareng did medical check ups afterwards.
Another community extension program is organized by NWU’s Office of Student Affairs, Guidance Center and the Supreme Student Council. Dubbed “Project A La Peace (Pencil, Eraser, and Crayons, Etc),” the program provides school supplies to elementary students in public schools.
Interested parties who want to contribute may send over pencils, crayons, paper, books and other school supplies to the Office of Student Affairs, who will take care of distributing these items to other schools in their next visits.
