Raniag is an Ilocano word for enlightenment which is consistent with NWU’s motto “Fiat Lux” (Let there be Light). The name of the journal symbolizes the light that leads the whole University to breakthrough researches that would enable innovations and critical minds of the faculty members of Northwestern University. Raniag Journal of Social Sciences considers scholarly, research-based articles on all aspects of social science, aimed at facilitating the global exchange of social science theory. It is a peer-reviewed and Open Access journal that considers scholarly, research-based articles on all aspects of social science such as business studies, arts, education, cultural studies, development studies, economics, environmental studies, gender and sexuality studies, law, information science, media studies, philosophy, political science, psychology and sustainability studies. As a journal aimed at facilitating the global exchange of social science theory, contributions from different educational systems and cultures are encouraged. The journal publishes research articles.

Aim
The aim of Raniag is to be a credible source of scholarly articles and research papers through the promotion of research publication at affordable or at no cost in long run. In another word to make research publication hassle free for financially constrained researchers and scholars. The published article will always be open access and archived for future generations.
Scope of Publication
Raniag is a multi-disciplinary journal and hence wide scope of publication. Original research articles, reviews and short communication in all areas of business studies, arts, education, cultural studies, development studies, economics, environmental studies, gender and sexuality studies, law, information science, media studies, philosophy, political science, psychology and sustainability studies are most welcome in for publication. Authors are encouraged to submit complete unpublished and original works, which are not under review in any other journals.
Manuscript Submission Overview
Raniag has no restrictions on the length of manuscripts, provided that the text is concise and comprehensive. Full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. Manuscripts submitted to Raniag should neither be published previously nor be under consideration for publication in another journal. The following type of research article will be considered:
- Articles: Original research manuscripts. The journal considers all original research manuscripts provided that the work reports scientifically sound experiments and provides a substantial amount of new information. Authors should not unnecessarily divide their work into several related manuscripts. Quality and impact of the study will be considered during peer review.
Submission Process
Manuscripts for Raniag should be submitted online. The submitting author, who is generally the corresponding author, is responsible for the manuscript during the submission and peer-review process. The submitting author must ensure that all eligible co-authors have been included in the author list and that they have all read and approved the submitted version of the manuscript. Proposed Publication Date
Raniag will be published bi-annually with its target date every month of June and December of the current year.

Peer Review Process
All researches submitted to Raniag must abide by the scope, and author guidelines of this journal. The submitted manuscripts must tackle scientific merit or novelty appropriate to the focus and scope. The Editor–in–Chief has the right to reject articles that do not meet the theme or the requirements. All manuscripts must rid from plagiarism content. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking. Editors check the plagiarism detection of articles in this journal by using Grammarly software.
The manuscript submitted to this journal will be peer–reviewed with double–blind review. Peer Review Statement is ensured by rigorous and integrity, anonymous peer evaluation of each main paper by three independent referees. The reviewers give scientific valuable comments improving the contents of the manuscript.
The final decision of articles acceptance will be made by the Editor, on behalf of the Editorial Board according to the reviewer’s comments. Publication of accepted articles including the sequence of published articles will be made by Editor–in–Chief by considering the sequence of accepted date and geographical distribution of authors as well as a thematic issue.
Review Outcomes: Utilizing feedback from the peer review process, the Editor will make a final publication decision. The review process will take approximately 4 to 10 weeks. Decisions categories include,
- Reject: Rejected manuscripts will not be published and authors will not have the opportunity to resubmit a revised version of the manuscript to Raniag.
- Resubmit for Review: The submission needs to be re–worked, but with significant changes, may be accepted. However, It will require a second round of review.
- Accept with Revisions: Manuscripts receiving an accept-pending-revisions decision will be published in Raniag under the condition that minor/major modifications are made. Revisions will be reviewed by an editor to ensure necessary updates are made prior to publication.
- Accept: Accepted manuscripts will be published in the current form with no further modifications required.
After reviewing, all the corresponding information is sent to the author. In one or two weeks, the author finalizes the article and sends the final version of it to the editors’ office. If after this period the article is not returned (or the editorial board is not informed about any delay) – the article is refused.
Qualifications to become Peer Reviewers
- Reviewers must be an expert of the field (as determined by the scope of the journal).
- Reviewers must be at least Master’s Degree Holder.
- Reviewers must have published in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Reviewers must abide with the Reviewer’s Responsibilities Statement

- Reviewer’s name and affiliation will be listed on the Journal’s website.
- Reviewers get a certificate as Reviewer.
- Chance to be a keynote or invited speaker in all of NWU’s conferences
